Why we are here…

Revd Michael Banfield is the full-time Senior Airport Chaplain. A part-time team of Assistant Chaplains work with him. We are on the Airport to be of help when you need us. We enjoy working with the staff, aircrew and passengers of the aviation industry. We are pleased to visit workplaces around the Airport, or to meet you wherever you feel at home – to listen, support, and encourage.

We are not here to preach religion, though we’re always happy to discuss spiritual matters if needed – and that goes for any other subject that may be of concern, too. We try to listen well – and you can be assured of our independence and of our ability to keep any confidences shared. Our aim is to be supportive and encouraging to staff and passengers of any faith – or no faith.

The Chapel, the Airside Prayer Room and the Office…

The Chaplaincy Office is next to the Airport Chapel – at the front of the previous terminal building. Follow the signs across the road from the main terminal.

The Chapel, built in 2000, is open for your use between 0400 and 2300hrs local time daily. There is a 20 minute Wednesday Service each week at 1305hrs – and everyone is welcome. The Airside Multi Faith Prayer Room, opened in January 2010, is located on the level above the Departure Lounge, adjacent to the Executive Lounges.

What we do…

The Airport Company and several major church denominations share in making the Senior Chaplain’s ministry possible. The whole Team is here “to identify, understand, and share in the issues and concerns that affect staff and passengers at the Airport” – and to be a reminder of the presence and love of God.

Our aims…

• Serve the Airport community by visiting – workforce, management, ground staff, and aircrew of all companies on site.
• Support the Airport’s passengers in their welfare, emotional and spiritual needs.
• Be known as a helpful resource to people in any kind of special need, stress, or loss.
• Care for the Airport Chapel, and provide worship services as appropriate. Explore the links between faith and the workplace.
• Provide special support in the event of a major incident or aircraft accident.
